Randy Douthit – Renowned Producer, Director, and Volunteer

Randy DouthitRandy Douthit has always known he wanted to be a producer/director since four years old. Douthit began his career in local television while finishing school, and his career spans more than 30 years in television. He credits his success to his work ethic, determination, and love for the job.

At age 23, Randy Douthit directed Portland’s “KGW,” followed by directing Peabody, an award-winning children’s program “How Come.” Next, he turned “Seattle Today” from a failing television series to a top program, followed by a stint with CNN. Douthit directed CNN’s three top-rated award-winning shows: “Crossfire,” “Capital Gang,” and “Larry King Live.” Douthit was also part of the team for NBC’s sitcom sensation, “The French Prince of Bel Air.”

Randy Douthit started and maintained a long career in local television before working with Judy Sheindlin or Judge Judy from 1996 to September 2021. Douthit is also the executive director and veteran producer of Judge Judy’s new show “Judy Justice,” which was picked up for 120 episodes by Amazon Studios in November 2020 and premiered on Nov. 1, 2021. In addition to directing and executive producing “Judge Judy” and “Judy Justice,” Douthit also oversees development for Queen Bee Productions, Judy Sheindlin’s production company. Throughout his career, Randy Douthit has earned six CableACE Awards, six Emmy Awards, and two Peabody Awards.

Randy DouthitIn addition to his work in television, Douthit supports Public Counsel, a firm that provides pro bono legal assistance for children, families, veterans, students, immigrants, nonprofits, and small businesses. Douthit also supports the Vera Institute of Justice, which aims to end mass incarceration.
