Know All About Tom Keane Microsoft

Tom Keane is the chief information officer at Microsoft. He has been with Microsoft since 1997, starting as the corporate Vice President of Security, and moving to the position of CISO in 2005. His responsibilities include overseeing all facets of Microsoft’s technology and cyber security efforts, including hardware security, compliance with industry regulations, privacy and global investigations from around the world. 

 

In 2009 he was awarded a BitSight Cyber Security Award for “significant contributions to educating organizations about cyber-security risks.” In 2011 he received an award for his development of data breach notification legislation in California. Software developer and engineer Tom Keane sits in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Cyber security Partnership Steering Committee and Advisory Group. 

 

He is an active member of the Microsoft Technology Adoption Solutions Team and on the Advisory Board for Bay Area Cyber Security Inc., a high-tech security consulting firm in Palo Alto, CA. His company, Keane Research and Consulting LLC, is an exclusive Microsoft supplier of cyber security technology products.

In November 2016, the successful software developer and cloud services engineer was recognized by the European Union in their 2016 “European Digital Champion” awards for his role in the development of European cyber security policy and his efforts towards increasing cyber security awareness within European business and government.
