Alex Pissios Pursues Philanthropist as His New Career

Chicago’s Cinespace studios sells to TPG Real Estate Partners

Alex Pissios is a first-generation Greek immigrant, born and raised in Chicago. After college, he started a successful real estate career where he worked until 2009 when the crisis hit the real estate industry rendering him jobless and bankrupt.

In his late 30,s, Alex Pissios went through a very dark moment, owing millions of money to creditors. He had lost all hope in life until a wedding invitation from a family friend in Toronto marked the beginning of a new phase in his life.

Alex Pissios met Nick Mirkopoulos, his first-class cousin, at the wedding. His Uncle Nick was a kind-hearted man who saw a relative who needed help and offered Pissios an opportunity. Nick Mirkopolus ran a Cinespace in Toronto and wanted to open up a Cine space film studio in Chicago.

After Nick Mirkopoulos paid the attorney’s bankruptcy fees for Pissios, he put him in charge of finding a location for Cinespace in Chicago, an opportunity he embraced with his two arms. He needed a 100,000 square-foot structure that could accommodate three sound stages.

Alex Pissios’s life experience and the fact that he was raised by his mother, a special education teacher, made him compassionate towards the suffering, especially the young adults with special needs.

Alex Pissios started the Cinecare foundation in memory of his uncle Nick. Its goal was to provide jobs for low-income residents living in Chicago by providing them with free education and internships in television and film. The foundation has been of great help to the young adults who desire to work on the production in the Cinespace film Campus.

After completing high school, Alex Pissios desired to be a special school teacher like his mother. Although his life took a different turn, he still desired to help the Chicago residents. He even mentored a young man with autism while in college. Currently, he is working on creating a foundation to support young adults from 18-21 with special needs.

Alex Pissios plans on focusing on his new foundation. He plans to spend most of his time as a philanthropist and help as many people as possible, especially those living in high crime neighborhoods, get an education and jobs.
