How Gino Pozzo Reinvigorated The Watford FC Football Club

Aside from their brief moment of glory in the 80s, Watford Football Club has always struggled. Their time in the lower leagues had people doubting them and even making fun of them in some cases. However, all of that has changed in recent years thanks to the genius of one man, Gino Pozzo. Under his leadership, Watford FC has reached the Premier League and has made a name for itself. Here is how he did it.

Gino the Genius

Educated at an Ivy League school and then living in Spain for 20 years as a successful businessman, Gino Pozzo already had a lot going for him. However, Gino Pozzo wanted to do something different so he purchased the Watford FC with the intent of turning the floundering team into a football superstar. To be clear, this was not a passion project for him, Gino fully intended to turn a profit. And he did.

Ruthless Efficiency

Though he was not the coach of the team, Gino Pozzo was the driving force of leadership behind it. In fact, his mentality towards the coaching side of things was very business-like. He would hire most coaches for only a year or two before letting them go and getting a new one. This unorthodox strategy led to great results with each coach performing remarkably.

A Hands-On Kind of Guy

Gino Pozzo also moved to London just so he could better manage the business side of things for Watford FC. He would also personally oversee the team’s training. This kind of personal leadership is another reason the team has thrived with him as its owner. Some might even say that it has done a little too well since the rules of the game literally had to be changed after Gino’s trading and recruiting strategy proved far more effective than anyone could have anticipated.
