Linda’s Ceramic’s

In my younger years I learned how to crochet with my grandmother. I was left handed and she was right, so she had me watch in a full length mirror and follow what she was doing.  I started with rug yarn and made all sorts of runners, cat beds, hats, scarf’s etc.  Moving on from that I learned how to macramé. I made necklaces, hanging basket, pot holders, Afghans and bedspreads.  While in Osage with some trial and error we learned how to remodel our home.

In my later years after moving to Phoenix, I took a stain glass class, and loved it.  I made jewelry boxes, window catchers, lamp shades etc.  Paul and I then took a class learning how to make fountains with a product called Europa surfaces.  This is the type of product you may have seen around swimming pools (fountains going into the pools) and tile like surfaces on patios, counters etc.  We went from making a 4 foot fountain and expanding it in our home, with a weeping wall, and surround on our spa and finally the flooring on our back patio.  We did this as a hobby mainly for us; however we did do some counter-tops for our family and friends.

From there I had always wanted to learn to throw pottery on a wheel.  So I looked into classes at the community college in our area.  In order to make it to the wheel throwing I had to take the first course of hand building.  Luckily my instructor, Harry insists you start from the beginning and learn the basics before you continue on.  I enjoy making pottery and continue on with classes to this day.  I have gone through all of the semesters that you learn a new skill and have been in the studio classes for a year or so now.  Harry still instructs you however it is on an individual level based on what you want to work on.  This is one of my passions.  Paul  and 2 sons bought me my own wheel for my birthday last year so I can throw when I want.  I still feel I have much to learn to hone my skills and plan on doing this for the rest of my life.  Someday it is my dream to have my own studio so I can create and build on all of my beloved crafts.  I hope you enjoy the pictures of some of my projects.

Hey guys if your interested in this type of thing or have any ideas just shoot me a note and I will keep you informed.
