To go green often refers to different ways people choose what is considered a more environmentally friendly behavior as opposed to those who are a bit, let’s say, less environmentally friendly. If you’re thinking or choosing to go green you can start like so many people do by just taking a few baby steps. Put simply just replace a few things you do anyway. All one does is just replace things with other things that won’t cause such an impact on our environment.
There are times where it may be just an individual while other times it could be a whole company or neighborhood organizations and together they make a decision to go green in very large way.
It’s quite easy to go green on a small scale. For instance, just in your own home there are numerous ways of going green. For example, replacing those basic incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent ones is a great place to start because of the energy savings. Many people are now recycling cans, paper, and bottles too.
Looking out onto the web we found a few other ways to go green and here are a few more ways you can go green:
- How about checking your tire pressure. It’s no surprise having your tire pressure at the right psi (pounds per square inch) reduces the strain and friction on your tires which makes things easier on your engine, and then doing that also will increases your gas mileage.
- You can also get reusable water containers. Not sure if you’re aware of this but the average time a plastic bottle takes to degrade fully is somewhere around 450-1000 years, the soft and non-reusable ones take a shorter time.
- Just Like above you can replace your light bulbs. I know it is a lot to ask but if every American home would replace one light bulb with an Energy Star-rated light bulb, the planet would save enough energy to light 3 million homes for a year.
- Try washing a full load of clothes in cold. It’s actually a very good idea unless you’re coping with oily stains where hot or warm water would be better. Most times washing with the cold water setting on your machine will do a really good job of cleaning your clothes.
Hope this helps in giving some pretty easy ideas on how you can start to go green in your home…
